Finding out I was not alone . . .
Sometime in late November 2001 I was online and bored out of my gourd so I did a search for balloons and found a bunch of sites. I couldn't believe my eyes! Here I am thinking it's just me (I'm sure most of us felt that way right?) and little did I know there's thousands more out there who are into balloons like I am...and a lot of them are online!
What I also found out was that I could get my hands on some much bigger loons than I've ever used before! I had seen large loons at car dealerships and elsewhere of course, but I had no clue just anyone could get them.
Wow! That opened up a whole new world!
I poked around the 'net a bit in amazement at how this whole looner community was out there and I had no idea about it! I've been online for years and never knew ya'll were out there! I wish I had found ya'll years ago, but I'm just happy I found ya!
I used to think it was just me. Now I know I'm not alone. = )
On December 7, 2001 I joined a well known looner list (ya'll know which one) and was the new kid in class. LOL!
I must've received a few hundred emails that first day. No joke.
Over the course of that first week my mailbox had hundreds of emails which took a long time to answer. It was cool though because now I had tons of new friends to discuss balloons with!
I never seem to be caught up on email. It just keeps coming and coming, but it's cool because I enjoy getting them. ; )
Anyhow, apparently I caused a ruckus on that list when I mentioned that I was thinking about doing a site like this and they gave me the boot. That was on December 31, 2001.
I got tons of email urging me to start my own group so that's what I did and later that day my Yahoo! Group "Alternative Balloon Community" was born!
"ABC" has grown fast and has become a spam-free place to talk about balloons and enjoy free pix without all the bs bickering you see in other groups. If you're not a member of that group already you really should consider joining. It's fun!
